When we think of chocolate we visualize a beautifully packaged box of chocolates or a bar of our favorite brand of chocolate. What about liquid chocolate? Drinking chocolate made from pure chocolate is totally delicious. What could be nicer on a cold night than a mug of steaming hot chocolate? Hot chocolate and hot cocoa drinks come in various flavors as well. This is a comfort beverage that young and old can enjoy and is as delectable as any chocolate bar. Chocolate can be traced way back in history – about two thousand years ago. The cacao trees grew in the rain forests and were an object of worship by the Mayan people – an ancient civilization. They believed these trees were of divine origin so they named them cacao, which means “food of the gods”. Even though they had not yet thought of sweetening the drink made from the cacao beans they knew that they had stumbled onto something good! Only many years later someone thought of turning the cacao bean into delectable chocolate, as we know it today. The first chocolate was made in Switzerland and they are still known as the best chocolatiers in the world. There are many other countries that have caught up with them and delicious chocolates are available in most countries around the world. What usually makes chocolates different from country to country, are the ingredients of the centers. Chocolate has been found to have many health benefits for both men and women. Cocoa contains trace elements and nutrients that are essential to good health. This is great news, as chocolates make the perfect gift for any occasion and for any age group!

‘’All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt” Lucy Van Pelt (in Peanuts, by Charles M. Schulz)

When our mind is hovering over the idea of a perfect gift to send to our loved ones on any special occasion, the one thing that’s always on the mind is chocolate. Chocolates can make for an indispensable gift for everyone.

The word “chocolate” is derived from the word Xocolate used in the acient times by the Aztecs of Mexico. It is believed that Chocolate was first noted in 1519 when Spanish explorer Hernando Cortez visited the court of Emperor Montezuma of Mexico. Native to lowland, tropical South America, cacao has been cultivated for at least three millenniums in Central America and Mexico, with its earliest documented use around 1100 BC. The majority of the Meso-american people made chocolate beverages and made drinks out of chocolate. The first use of cacao is said to have been at a site in Puerto Escondido, Honduras, dating from about 1100 to 1400 BC.

Chocolate is made from the beans of cocoa. From the cocoa bean pods the beans are separated after fermentation. These beans are cleansed and then blown in a process to remove foreign particles and husk. Then the kernel of the seeds is broken in small bits which are called nibs. These nibs are ground finely to obtain what is called cocoa liquor. The liquor when crystallized produces the dark chocolate which is the mother of virtually all other chocolates that are prepared.

Depending upon what goes into it there are many types of chocolates available now. These types of chocolates include cocoa powder, dark chocolate, bittersweet chocolate, semi sweet chocolate, sweet dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate, Couverture chocolates, and Gianduja chocolates.

Chocolate is a popular gift item that you can give to anyone for any special occasion. You can give chocolate to your loved one with a bunch of red roses. You can wish your friend good luck with this delightful treat. Parents can be greeted happy anniversary with a chocolate basket. The best way to cheer up kids is by gifting them a box of chocolates. No matter what the celebration is, chocolate gifts are sure to bring a smile to the faces of the people who are close to your heart.

A box full of delicious chocolates can be an ideal gift. A variety of branded chocolates from Cadbury, Nestle, Vochelle, Ferrero Rocher can be included in the box, which is decorated for an artistic appeal. If the recipient is a chocolate lover, he is sure to be delighted with the miscellany of white chocolate, dark chocolate, chocolate with nuts, fruits, and almonds. Chocolates can also be moulded in different shapes like roses, stars, etc. The chocolate roses can be sent decorated with red ribbons and nets.

Chocolates are a great gift for occasions. What better way to say, “I love you” to that special someone than by gifting chocolates on Valentine’s Day! Love and chocolates go hand in hand. Birthdays are occasions which demand something sweet. Chocolates to your loved ones on their Birthday will surely be the most preferred gift. On a wedding ceremony , the best way to wish a newly wed couple is to gift them a pack of gourmet chocolates. Chocolates can be treated to a couple on their Anniversary also. Chcolates have such a magic that it can sweeten up any moment of life.

Moderate consumption of chocolates can have many benefits on the various aspects of our health.Chocolates are made from cocoa and acts as a great antidepressant. Chocolates act as a source of antioxidants and thus lower the threats of cancer and cardiac problems. Naturally processed dark chocolates are an excellent source of flavonoids, which are a type of polyphenols, present in plants having antioxidant properties. So the next time you want to bring back a smile on someone’s face, cheer up a friend – send them a pack of assorted chocolates.

Be it Diwali, Easter, Holi, Christmas, Rakhi, Eid or any other festival, chocolates are the most precious gift item to send to your family, friends and loved ones. When away from the family, chocolates can be a good long distance gift to send back home.

If you are in a hurry, simply give a single piece of chocolate bar as a gift. Choose the favorite chocolate bar for that special person and tie a small ribbon around it and the gift is ready. Chocolate gifts are indeed ideal for any occasion. Whether it is a basket bursting with chocolate variants, a neatly wrapped chocolate gift box, or a simple chocolate bar, it is sure to make that special day more memorable.

Let’s take a look at these 3 popular items to determine the best choice. Whether you are buying your lady a birthday, anniversary or a “just because” gift, you want your gift to say, “You are special to me.” Scenario#1: Mr. Smith is on his way home from a bad day at work. Making a quick stop at the grocery store to buy his favorite comfort food or drink, he spots several day old bouquets wrapped in plastic and remembers that it’s his anniversary. He grabs the flowers, pays for his items and presents Mrs. Smith the bouquet (still in the plastic with the price tag on it) upon arriving home. As she smiles and thanks him, she’s secretly thinking, “What a disappointment. I can’t believe he forgot again.” Scenario #2: Remembering several days ahead of time, Mr. Smith purchases a nice box of chocolates and takes the time to wrap it. He presents it to his wife on their anniversary. She is very pleased that he’s remembered their anniversary and is happy with the chocolates. Scenario #3: Several months before his anniversary, Mr. Smith starts surfing the web internet for the perfect gift. Deciding on a bracelet, he is pleased with Mrs. Smith’s reaction as she opens her gift. She is genuinely delighted. This is a gift that says, “You are special to me.” Flowers and chocolates are not necessarily a bad choice for a gift- as long as there is thought put into it. Women look at things differently than men. The thought, effort and time put into selecting a gift means almost as much, if not as much to them as the gift itself. When you buy her jewelry, it tells her that you have put thought into selecting this gift because there are so many places that you can buy jewelry. It also shows that you know what she likes. Another way of looking at it when trying to decide which gift to buy her: Flowers will die, chocolates will be eaten, but jewelry will last. Every time she wears it she’ll be reminded that you bought it for her and that you think she is special.

It’s difficult to find someone who doesn’t like chocolate. Maybe it’s in some measure due to the fact that chocolate releases endorphins, the same neurotransmitters that make you feel good after you sneeze or have sex or fall in love. The nearly universal draw to chocolate makes chocolate, in any shape or form, an extremely popular gift. This is as true for children as it is for grandparents; who didn’t love trick-or-treating when they were little or receiving a box of chocolates for Valentine ’s Day when they were older? Chocolate is a great gift for just about anyone, big or small. Of course, all chocolate is not buildd equal. Though the mass-produced chocolates made by companies like M&M, Mars, and Hershey’s taste good, they’re really nothing compared to gourmet chocolate. It’s a bit of a shame that some people go their whole lives thinking that “gourmet chocolate” refers to those heart-shaped boxes of factory truffles passed around after Valentine’s Day, but this couldn’t be further from the truth (especially if you get to the box of Valentine’s chocolates last and all that’s left are the picked-over remains, most of them with holes in the bottom where your blittle sister punched her thumb through to see what kind of chocolate each contained). True gourmet chocolate is usually crafted by master chocolatiers (which, speaking of, must be an amazing job). These chocolatiers construct chocolates in the same way that professional chefs fabricate meals; with the best ingredients, best recipes, and with an expert sense of taste. Though the finest chocolates can be found only at the table of one of these chocolatiers, other fine retail outlets like Godiva also sell some very good gourmet chocolates. Of course, like the finest meals, these gourmet chocolates do come at a price. Though you may pay $15 for a box of 50 chocolate truffles in a drug store, you’re more likely to pay from $1.50-$5.00 per truffle if you’re getting them from a professional chocolatiers. Though gourmet chocolates aren’t very likely to replace Hershey’s Kisses in your everyday candy dish, they do make a great touch of excess, especially for that special person in your life (and even if you decide to spoil yourself every now and again). It’s tough to explain or replicate the flavor of an outstanding chocolate; it’s truly something you need to experience for yourself. Though it may take a little searching, eventually you’ll find that perfect chocolate, and it will be tough to ever go back to Hershey’s Kisses again.

Let’s face it. We’re all going to eat chocolate for Valentine’s Day. But there’s no need to feel guilty! Chocolate is actually good for you…it’s all the things added to it that are the problem. Here’s how you can choose delicious healthy chocolates for your Valentine.

HEALTH BENEFITS

The gift of chocolate to a beloved as a token of love is more than just tradition. Naturally-occurring compounds in chocolate produce that mild euphoria of being in love and contribute to enjoyable interpersonal relations by elevating mood and enhancing sensory perception.

Beyond good feelings, chocolate benefits the body in many ways. In moderation, chocolate can contribute to heart health, help you live longer, suppress a chronic cough, and add needed magnesium to your diet. Chocolate even contains a high level of chromium, which can help control blood sugar.

Chocolate does NOT cause acne, most headaches, or hyperactivity, and does not raise cholesterol.

HEALTH PROBLEMS

While chocolate itself is fine to eat, there are some substances present in chocolate products that you should watch out for.

Most chocolate products contain tremendous amounts of refined white sugar, which is harmful to health in many ways.

Chocolate may also contain pesticides. The EPA allows various levels of pesticide residue to be present in cocoa powder, and the FDA Total Diet Study found them in many chocolate products.

Many chocolates also contain the toxic metals cadminum and lead. “Significant levels” of these metals were found in 68% of the common chocolate products tested. There is no safe level for lead, and it is particularly harmful to children.

HEALTHY CHOCOLATE CHOICES

Here are some guidelines for choosing the healthiest chocolates.

1. Choose chocolates with the least amount of refined white sugar or other sweetener. Dark “bittersweet” chocolates with a high percentage of cocoa solids (usually the label will state the exact percentage) have less sugar than semisweet or milk chocolate and also have the greatest health benefits. Keep in mind that flavor additions, such as dried fruits and candied ginger may also add sugar to the chocolate.

2. Choose chocolates sweetened with evaporated cane juice or barley malt. If the evaporated cane juice used is the unprocessed whole juice of the cane, it acts in the body like a whole food and doesn’t give a sugar rush. Barley malt is also a slow-release sweetener, noted on the label as “grain-sweetened.”

3. Choose organic chocolates. Certified organic chocolate ensures there are no harmful pesticide residues.

4. Make your own chocolates. It’s easy to make many chocolate delights yourself, with the exact ingredients you want. Start with unsweetened cocoa powder or baking chocolate and be creative!

SAVOR YOUR CHOCOLATE

Fine chocolate is one of those earthly pleasures to be savored. When eaten as a special treat, with full appreciation, a little chocolate can go a long way.

Choose quality over quantity. If you are going to eat chocolate, eat really good chocolate. Then, for maximum enjoyment, give the taste of the chocolate your full attention, eat it at a time when you are not famished or overly full, and allow the chocolate to melt in your mouth to make the experience last.

During the cold days of winter, many of us find comfort in the little break that Valentine’s Day gives. In order to celebrate it to the best level, many individuals will purchase gifts for their loved ones. Children are no different with being given small gifts, candy and even money. And, they too want to give a gift and often give gifts such as cards that are handmade to their loved ones. Finding a special, meaningful gift is important though.

When giving a gift for Valentine’s Day, it is often important for you to think of a way to give them as clutter free a gift as possible. Think about it. As a child, for each Valentine’s Day you got a stuffed animal. How much room do you have to receive yet another stuffed animal? Not to mention, getting the same type of gift year after year leaves individuals really not appreciating it either. Instead, there are other solutions of gifts to give. Think, clutter free gifts instead.

* Gift luxury. Great gifts to give a loved one for Valentine’s Day are lotions, perfumes and bath gels. As long as they are in the smell and type that the individual likes, they will get used and will not be cluttering up the home. Make sure that what you give is enjoyed by the individual through. Know what they like before buying it.

* A Box Of Chocolates? Another non clutter type of gift for Valentine’s Day is giving something that can be eaten. For example, chocolate or even a great fruit basket will work well. Think about what they enjoy, being conscious of diets and eating plans when giving these gifts though.

* Give the gift of time. Or, a coupon. For example, if you know your loved one would enjoy a meal for two and a nice movie, give the gift of a coupon made out just for that. Or, how about a back rub, a day off from the kids, or just some help around the house. These are useful and much appreciated gifts.

* Give the gift of writing. Those individuals that like writing notes to people or would enjoy a beautiful stationary set would love to have these given as gifts. You’ll find them available in sets that contain beautiful ways to decorate it. If they enjoy scrapbooking, give them these things too.

* Think about the kids too. Don’t leave kids out of the picture. What consumable things can you purchase for kids? Think about what they love. Pencils, great looking stationary, maybe even some new art supplies would be appreciated. Or, plan a trip to the zoo, a game of cards or other things to involve you spending time with them. Use the coupon theory here too.

When you do these types of things for your Valentines Day gifts, kids and adults alike are more likely to appreciate them, use them and keep their homes clutter free. It takes only a few minutes of thought to come up with the best clutter free ideas for your loved ones. These are Valentine’s Day gifts that they will love.
